Integrated Irrigation System - Canyon County, Idaho

A farmer purchased a large gravity-irrigated farm and converted it to sprinkler irrigation  using both his own groundwater rights and surface water rights owned by an irrigation district.  The irrigation district had concerns about potential enlargement of water use on the farm.  The land owner hired SPF Water Engineering to assist him in his negotiations with the irrigation district, and complete the water right tasks that would authorize his use of groundwater and surface water in an integrated irrigation system.

As part of the process, SPF analyzed historic irrigation use in relationship to future water needs, and prepared the necessary permit and transfer applications to authorize integration of the groundwater and surface water delivery systems.  SPF also negotiated with the irrigation district to assure their cooperation in allowing the proposed changes to the surface water delivery system.
